Buhl Planetarium Memories

In my searches to bring you a balance of interesting posts about miniatures and information about my store (btw, which is the best MINI online store with an amazing selection, great prices, low shipping, excellent service and more-shameless plug I know, but I gotta build the business side to keep going with the fun side! ), I sometimes forget what is in my own backyard. When I was in elementary school, my class took a field trip to see the most amazing miniature display EVER. Our class arrived at the museum (now the Carnegie Science Center) in Pittsburgh, PA and we were greeted by Mr. Rodgers, yup THE Mr. Rodgers. While the other students were more interested in Mr. R. and his famous neighborhood crew, I was clutching the velvet barrier mesmerized by the room size miniature train layout. The Ferris wheel, oh that fascinating, moving Ferris wheel, was hypnotizing. Look around your 'neighborhood' and see what your local museums have on display in miniature that you have not seen, or have forgotten about! ~judy www.justminiaturescale.com

The original Buhl Science Center display that I saw in the early 1960's.

The display of today which continues to be updated. You can read more about this amazing display: http://www.carnegiesciencecenter.org/exhibits/miniature-railroad-history

Ah, they still have the wonderful Ferris wheel; I may need to take another field trip!
