The Grand Hotel

Our MINI Countdown to the Oscars continues!
“The Grand Budapest Hotel” is up for Best Motion Picture at this year’s Oscars. The movie is set in the fictional European country of Zubrowka in the 1930's amidst a nation ravaged by war and poverty, during the final glory days of this remote, mountainside hotel.
Director Wes Anderson and his team used this handmade miniature model of the hotel for all of the wide shots when filming. Beautifully crafted in pink hues, the grand hotel is set atop rocky, tree spotted hill. The hotel model is 14 feet long and 7 feet deep and 9 feet tall.
MINIS have definitely made the headlines in 2014! NY Times, National Geographic, and Architectural Digest are a few of the noteworthy publications that have been fascinated with this movie model.
