Simply Toothpicks and Glue!

Gooood Morning MINI Friends. I have a fun MINI story for you today. (please remember to visit my dollhouse miniature site to show your appreciation for my stories!)
Ok, we all realize our love of miniatures is slightly..:)...obsessive; however, artist Scott Weaver takes obsessive to new heights. 3 decades + 1 million toothpicks = AMAZING! Weaver started as a child constructing his interpretive rendition of San Francisco. The architectural vision even includes 15 feet of toothpick track that viewers can roll ping pong balls through! ONLY toothpicks and simple glue used in the entire construction!
NOW, when you start gluing those little shingles on your dollhouse one by one, be thankful it isn't going to take you 35 years (it may feel like it) and 1 million shingles to finish the job!

Happy Veterans Day!

Happy Veteran's Day MINI friends. I thought a fitting tribute from us in the Dollhouse Miniature would be showing respect for an important hobby around the world that encompasses the appreciation for the world of our soldiers, past and present. A very popular form of miniatures is Military Miniaturism. The emphasis on realism, historical accuracy and scale of the miniatures are important aspects of this hobby. Knowledge of history, events and geography also play a role in the development of subjects and themes. So I tip my MINI hat to all those that love miniatures and use them for expression, friendship and to tell the stories of the past.
God bless the men and women around the world, past and present, who step up and protect us. ~judy place for all of your Dollhouse and MINI needs!

Kick Off the Holidays!

Let's get this Holiday Party started!
Check out all of our Holiday MINIS!

Monday, October 3, 2016

Welcome to October....time for weird, wacky posts about MINIS! Famed director Henry Selick, known for the movie 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' created the film 'Coraline'. The film depicts an adventurous girl finding an idealized parallel world behind a secret door in her new home, unaware that the alternate world contains a dark and sinister secret.
The special effects and stop action animation are brilliant. Three Victorian Dollhouses were used throughout the filming. Also, artist, Althea Crome ( work!) was hired specifically to knit miniature sweaters and other clothing for the puppet characters, sometimes using knitting needles as thin as human hair.
Another dollhouse to view in a movie for your October entertainment! For more October Stories visit my website:

Happy National Stupid Question Day!

Happy National Stupid Question Day! The roots of this special day go back to the 1980's. At the time, there was a movement by teachers to try to get kids to ask more questions in the classroom. Kids sometimes hold back, fearing their question is stupid, and asking it will result in ridicule.
I have had customers countless times begin a conversation with: "This may be a stupid question, but....."
I could be my Mum and say, "There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers", but I will take the high road and say:
Basic information is always needed when starting a hobby. In this wonderful world of MINIS ask-you will find very generous people willing to help you. In my career I have always appreciated the seasoned collector, the master builder and the newbie! One I admire, one I am in awe and one keeps my enthusiasm for all of this!
We have some great information pages on our site regarding all of the basics-wiring (my favorite), wallpapering, roofing, even a suggested list of glues for which project you are doing.
Check it all out!
Now for my 'stupid' question......What goes around the world but stays in a corner?
