A universal and beautiful use of miniatures
can be found in homes, churches, museums and more, in the displaying of
the Birth of the Christ child. This beautiful video shows the
outstanding detail of one such scene. The Neapolitan Praesepio
in the St. John Cantius Church, Chicago, is one of the most outstanding
examples of the storytelling of the blessed event. The Praesepio
video, framed by decorative elements of the altar of Our Lady of
Chestochowa, is accompanied by St. John Cantius choir. (Be sure your
volume's on, so you can also enjoy the St. John Cantius choir.) I hope
you enjoy the peace this miniature scene brings on this hectic weekend
of final holiday preparations. ~judy www.justminiaturescale.com

World's Smallest Working Model Train Layout
The desire to constantly strive to create the impossible!
The worlds smallest operational train set is a miniature object, it is built on a scale of 1:35200, and measures just 1/8 of an inch x 1/4 of an inch. The best part certainly is that the set is functional, even with that small size. Made by David Smith, the model has a five-carriage train traveling around an oval route. Powered by a standard two-inch-long rotating motor head and carved out of mouldable plastic, the model train cost Mr Smith just over L6 to make. “To get a sense of scale you have to remember that the River Branch project is being built to the scale of 1-220,” Mr Smith added. ‘It has taken up two-and-a half-years of my life and is going to be very impressive once it is finished.’

David Beck Sculptor
We all appreciate the many creations of
miniatures that we see from shows, clubs, friends, shops, etc. We delight in the fantasy of Victorian, the
storytelling of miniature memories and the realism of individual pieces. We strive to experience all things miniature
daily by sharing our facebook pages, blogs and online shops. Yet, there is another level to the world of
miniatures that many of us do not have the rare talent it takes to envision and
create the types of miniatures by David Beck.
Beck is an American artist who creates a fascinating world of hidden
scenes, boxes and drawers that hold secret sculptures, creatures and rooms. He
also sculpts these intricate animated creatures that move and wiggle using a
crank mechanism or tremble from the simple movement of the object. He was commissioned to create MVSEVM,
a sculpture to commemorate the reopening of the Smithsonian American Art Museum
in July of 2006. This exquisite and complicated piece was inspired by the
American Art Museum's Patent Office Building, the model opens to reveal
miniature artifacts and artworks as well as drawers containing hidden
treasures. This piece is
unbelievable. I am making note to add
this to my MINI bucket list to go see! Visit his site to see more detailed
photos. http://davidbeckartworks.com/mvsevm

Sunday Fun!
My favorite thing about Sunday afternoons is cooking! It is chilly out, the house smells good, and the day never hurries! Add a little music, a little 'cooking juice' (friend, you know where I got that happy term for a glass of wine while cooking!) and add friends and family and it makes for the perfect day! Spend some time today doing something that brings you joy...maybe shopping for MINIS at www.justminiaturescale.com? Enjoy! ~judy
